It was previously announced that Alien vs. Predator director Paul W.S. Anderson and Ian Jeffers were on board as writers, with Sylvain White attached to direct.
After White dropped out of the project, the film was offered to other directors over a period of several months, before being shelved.
Jeffers and Anderson’s screenplay was said to focus on the rise of Dracula and the origin of the vampire-slaying Belmont clan.
The Castlevania series debuted on the NES in the 1980s, quickly becoming a recognised landmark in the action platforming genre. It has since spawned sequels on multiple formats, most recently in the shape of Castlevania: Order Of Ecclesia for Nintendo DS.
