Worldwide Xbox 360 sales top 30 million
Microsoft has announced that global sales of its Xbox 360 console have now passed 30 million units since its launch in 2005.

This follows what the company calls Xbox's "biggest year" in 2008 when growth jumped by 28%.

The firm also indicated that membership of the Xbox Live community has now reached over 20 million active users, which has risen by 136% since the launch of Xbox Live Experience last November.

Xbox executive Don Mattrick said that the corporation expects "growth to continue to accelerate" over the year ahead.

He added: "Our news at E3 next week will underscore our commitment to bringing blockbuster entertainment experiences to everyone and to growing the Xbox entertainment brand globally."
