Speaking to CNET, the executive said that the company's "near-term opportunity" is to target "the consumer who owns a PS3 or an Xbox 360 and has been bad-mouthing Wii to their friends".
Fils-Aime claimed that forthcoming games such as first-person-shooter The Conduit and sci-fi horror title Dead Space Extraction will "win over the Halo audience" to the Wii.
He added: "And you know what? Once those people buy into Wii, they'll go buy Mario Kart or Wii Fit Plus."
The gaming boss also pointed out that the firm's "mid-term" opportunity is aimed at the "more mainstream consumer who saw [the] Wii at a friend's house but just needs a little extra incentive to get into our game".
"That's what Wii Motion Plus and Wii Fit Plus and new Super Mario Bros Wii will hopefully achieve," he concluded.
