Ballmer had told a group in Chicago that 2010 would see the company release a new 360 with motion control technology as standard.
However, according to IGN, he said that he confused his words and a new 360 was not forthcoming.
"I confused the issue with my poorly chosen words. There is no news in my comments. Things are as reported after E3. Sorry," he admitted.
At E3, Microsoft announced Project Natal, a brand new motion sensing device for the 360.
