'Asteroids'

A version of Asteroids where players can shoot desktop files and folders has become available to download.

Desktop Blaster can display items and float them around the screen only to be shot down with a wire-frame ship, similar to the arcade classic that launched in 1979.

Commissioned by the Sci-Fi channel and developed by Public Creative, the game is downloaded to the desktop, with scores uploaded to an online leaderboard for competitive play.

Creative director Jonathan Drysdale said: "The inspiration for Desktop Blaster came from our love of retro gaming, all things sci-fi and a detailed knowledge of the different technology currently available."

The game can be found on the Sci-Fi website.
