Gradius Rebirth has launched as a WiiWare download along with a number of previously unreleased games in Nintendo's annual Hanabi festival.

Gradius Rebirth, which features a mixture of classic and new stages, can be downloaded for 600 Nintendo points (£4.20).

Also available for 600 points is WiiWare title BitBoy, which sees players take control of Bit Boy Kubi in levels based on the evolution of the video game.

This week also saw the launch of the Hanabi festival, with games being released for the first time in the West.

For 900 points (£6.30), players can download critically-acclaimed Sega Mega Drive platform title Pulseman, or SNES strategy RPG game Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen.

Three new DSiWare applications are also available, with Mario Calculator and Mario Clock costing 200 points each (£1.40), and Gameloft's Brain Challenge priced at 800 points (£5.60).

The Hanabi festival is due to last until July 24.
