Top Cow reveals 'The Darkness 2'
Comic brand Top Cow has revealed that a sequel to first-person shooter The Darkness is currently in development, according to Newsrama.

News of the game leaked during a panel discussion at San Diego's Comic-Con event, in which it was also disclosed that British comic writer Paul Jenkins has joined the project.

Original developer Starbreeze, however, will not be overseeing the sequel after its boss Johan Kristiansson told vg247 that the studio is "not involved in anything like that right now".

Instead, Kristiansson explained that the developer is currently very "busy" working on two mystery projects for Electronics Arts.

Released in 2007, The Darkness saw players take on the role of gangster Jackie Estacado who develops dark superpowers after being possessed by a spirit.

It was also revealed during the panel discussion that a live-action film based on the character is being developed, with Scott Stuber Productions already attached to the project.
