Shirley Manson to star in 'Guitar Hero'

Former Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson is to feature in the next game in the Guitar Hero series.

The singer told the Daily Record that she had modelled to appear as an animated figure in the game and will sing 'Only Happy When It Rains' from the group's self-titled debut.

Manson said: "They did a scan of my face then I had to put on this weird suit. It was super-freaky. I love Guitar Hero and I'm thrilled to be one of only two girls on it so far.

"What's great about Guitar Hero is that the obsessiveness of being in a band catches on to those who play the game. That is a large part of being in a band - I love it."

She added: "At the moment, it's very hard for rock music to be heard in mainstream media. Guitar Hero has kept the flag flying.

"Rock songs will stay around and have an impact on new, younger generations."

Manson recently said that she would not return to the music industry since embarking on an acting career, though Garbage producer Butch Vig has suggested that the band could make a comeback.
