Crytex slams German violent games ban
Crytek chief Cevat Yerli has criticised the German government's proposed policy to ban all domestic production and distribution of violent video games.

Back in June, German ministers first called for the ban on violent action games, although the country's parliament has not yet made a final decision on the proposal.

Speaking to PC Games Germany, Yerli said that the ban was a concern due its curtailing of creative freedoms, which could result in his studio relocating elsewhere.

"A ban on action games in Germany is concerning us because it is essentially like banning the German artists that create them," he said.

"If the German creative community can't effectively participate in one of the most important cultural mediums of our future, we will be forced to relocate to other countries."

Yerli also expressed his fear that should the policy be implemented, then it would "deprive German talent of its place on the global game development stage, and deprive German consumers of entertainment that is considered safe and fun around the world".
