'Just Cause' movie in the works
Eidos Interactive's open-world game Just Cause is being developed into a movie, according to Variety.

Adrian Askarieh has won the rights to develop the property after previously setting up movie tie-ins for the Hitman and Kane & Lynch video game franchises.

Originally released back in 2006, Just Cause saw players take on the role of agent Rico Rodriguez, codenamed The Scorpion, who has to assassinate a dictator on the fictional island of San Esperito.

Askarieh reportedly views the Rodriguez character as being a blend of Jason Bourne, James Bond, Wolverine and Rambo mixed with a touch of Enrique Iglesias.

He is hoping to independently produce the Just Cause movie and has been collaborating with the Creative Artists Agency to generate around $30 million (£18.1m) for its budget.

Meanwhile, Just Cause 2 is currently being developed for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC by Avalanche Studios, and is due for release in the fourth quarter of this year.
