The game tells the story of infamous general Napoleon Bonaparte through three story-driven campaigns based on his most famous battles. Players will be given the opportunity to guide his forces or take control of the opposition.
Charting the historical figure's early years, three scenarios will chart his campaigns in Italy, Egypt and Russia, with the latter culminating in his showdown with the Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo.
"In Napoleon: Total War you get to actually be Napoleon - to face the problems he faced, to win the battles he won, and to build the Empire he built. Or better," explained Mike Simpson, creative director at The Creative Assembly. "However, the game allows you to step in the shoes of his opposing generals as well, allowing the player to rewrite history as they see fit."
The RTS will contain all of the features of its predecessor Empire: Total War, such as 3-D land and naval battles, a detailed campaign map and an in-depth diplomacy system.
Napoleon: Total War will be released in February next year.
