Speaking to 1UP, studio exec Randy Pitchford revealed that the first batch of downloadable content is in development, with future expansions planned based on feedback from players.
"People are going to be surprised when they find out how quickly we're coming [with DLC]," he said.
"We’re going to watch and see what happens when the game launches, so we can have our plans affected by what our customers want more of, but we do have some plans for the initial stuff already in motion, and I'll be announcing that soon."
Borderlands is a first-person shooter containing RPG elements. Its storyline takes place on an alien planet named Pandora, where several colonization ships have landed seeking minerals and resources. After discovering that the planet is barren, the settlers find themselves under threat as spring sets in, when hordes of horrifying creatures emerge from hibernation.
The game is now undergoing certification at Microsoft and Sony ahead of its release on October 23.
