The mandatory 3.0 update has included the option to choose a free or premium avatar icon.
The friends and trophy lists have been reorganised, while there are new clock and battery metres in the top right corner.
Users will also be introduced to a 'What's New' column with a selection of the latest PSN updates and Internet links, as well as an option for the BBC iPlayer.
The update has arrived in time for the PS3 Slim, which was released this week.
