'MUA2' dev: 'Project was in limbo'

Executive producer of Vicarious Visions Jennifer O'Neal explained that as previous producer Raven Software was working on other projects, the sequel was left without a developer.
"There was a period of time when this was floating in limbo and it needed to go to a new developer," she told DS. "Vicarious Visions didn't have the bandwidth to start on it right away as we were working on some other games, and once this was finished up this was transferred to us right away."
O'Neal went on to say that although the title received a "standard two-year cycle", bringing the game to current generation systems was not straightforward.
"It was definitely challenging. The one thing we had going for us was that the [Alchemy] engine is our engine," she said. "But even so, to make that big leap to current gen standards, we had to make the graphical enhancements that we did to make the characters stand out to what they are right now."
Vicarious Visions had handled PSP and Wii ports of the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance in 2006.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 will be released on September 25 for 360, PS3 and Wii.
