Sony experimenting with 3D gaming
Sony is investigating the possibility of a 3D software update for the PlayStation 3, engadget has reported.

According to the gadgets website, the platform holder is planning to bring the technology in next year, with the system's entire back catalogue rumoured to be playable in 3D.

A Sony representative said that the firm is "conducting a technological investigation" as to the possibility of this, but claims that there are "no plans for the market launch of this at this time".

Ubisoft's upcoming Avatar tie-in game and several Sony racing titles were reportedly designed with the technology in mind, althought it was noted that games designed with a different engine could face incompatibility problems.

The technology is expected to launch in 2010, expanding through Bravia LCD HDTVs, Vaio machines, PlayStation 3 and Blu-ray discs.
