High-definition 2D Sonic coming 2010

Codenamed Project Needlemouse, the title will be built from the ground up in high definition, according to GameSpot.
Associate brand manager Ken Balough said that the game will be a response to "old-school" fans who have "long asked to see Sonic return to 2D".
The project is expected to be released across digital distribution platforms.
