Kojima planned 'MGS 4' controller
Former Konami president Hideo Kojima attempted to create his own controller for last year's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots, it has been revealed.

According to the game's producer Kenichiro Imaizmu, the Kojima Productions head had been leading the design of a custom controller for the title. The peripheral is said to have incorporated a pulse reader and electric shock waves.

"We tried running electric shock waves, install a pulse reader... we also tried to build a controller that's receptive to the strength of the [player's] grip," he told Joystiq. "We tried a lot, even a transforming controller."

It has since been announced that Nintendo will release a controller equipped with a pulse reader for the Wii next year.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots was released in June last year. Shifting over four million units since April 2009, the game is currently the bestselling PS3 exclusive.
