Hideo Kojima has said that a foreign developer could update the original Metal Gear.

The series producer and creator responded to a request to remake the release by suggesting that another team handle it.

"It doesn't have to be me who makes it," he told Kotaku. "I made it a long time ago.

"It could be somebody young that maybe has more abilities than I do. It would even be good if a foreign production team did it."

Metal Gear was originally released in 1987 for the MSX, and become a million-seller in North America when it was ported to the NES.

Kojima has been working on MGS: Peace Walker, MGS: Rising and Castlevania: Lord Of Shadow since finishing MGS4.
