Nintendo plays down Wii price cut

Speaking to CNBC, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the gaming giant is hoping to attract customers with new software.
"Absolutely not. What we have is great software," he said. "As long as we have this great drumbeat of new software, we'll be able to motivate the consumer."
The console is currently being offered at a lower price in Japan and the US. With a new package deal available in Europe, Wii sales are expected to rapidly increase over the Christmas period, but Fils-Aime insisted that there will not be a repeat of last year's shortages.
"We do not expect to have shortages on our products. If we do experience them, I'd love to have that problem, but we're not seeing that this year," he added.
The latest Wii package deal includes the console, Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort. It is available now for around £179.
