EA launching interactive book service
Electronic Arts has unveiled an interactive children's book service for the Nintendo DS.

Flips, launched in association with publishers Egmont Press and Penguin, will bring titles including Artemis Fowl, The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree, Gingersnaps and Too Ghoul For School to the Nintendo platform.

"Right now we're focused on the partnerships with Egmont and Penguin - we reached out to these guys pretty early on and we found ourselves with some very compelling content we can do something innovative and different with on software," EA Play's Harvey Elliott told GI.biz. "That's been our focus and clearly it's bringing this to market."

EA general manager Keith Ramsdale added: "It's not just about reading a book - it's about bringing that book to life. Not in the form of a game, but bringing the game to life in the way that the studio has developed the reading experience."

Flips will retail at £24.99. Each release will contain six to eight books, with four slated for release in time for Christmas.
