Nintendo unveils new Wii 'Pokemon'
Nintendo has announced a new Pokemon game for the Wii titled PokePark Wii.

Screenshots have already emerged, many of which depict the iconic Pikachu exploring a park populated by Pokemon. Players will take control of the yellow rodent as he competes in an array of mini-games.

The character will be able to befriend other Pokemon to aid him in specific challenges, such as races, battles and tag contests. Creatures Inc - the studio behind the series' handheld outings - will develop the game for Nintendo.

Originally released as a pair of interlinkable Game Boy RPGs in 1996, Pokemon has gone on to become the second most profitable gaming franchise in the world, behind only Nintendo's Mario property.

PokePark Wii arrives in Japan in December. It is expected to be released in Europe and North America in 2010.
