'LittleBigPlanet' sequel played down
Developer Media Molecule has played down talk of a sequel to LittleBigPlanet, claiming that a follow-up to the game would be "counterproductive".

Rumours of a successor to the PS3-exclusive began to circulate when the studio placed a job listing seeking designers for a "ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment".

However, the firm has now clarified that the game in question will not be another LBP. "We'd never want to do that," level designer Danny Lever told Critical Gamer. "That'd be the most counterproductive thing you could do, I think."

Producer Martin Lynagh echoed Lever's claim, confirming that Media Molecule will continue to support the title with regular updates. "I think what you've seen so far from LittleBigPlanet... that's the way it's going to continue."

LittleBigPlanet arrived on the PlayStation 3 in 2008. In April, it was announced that its player community had almost reached the two million mark. A PSP version of the game is available from November 17.
