Activision: 'We chose to pull MW2'
Activision has clarified the decision to censor the Russian version of Modern Warfare 2.

The firm said that it made the move of its own accord and not because the game was banned from an official body.

"Other countries have formal ratings boards that we regularly work with. However, Russia does not have a formal ratings entity," a spokesperson told Eurogamer. "As a result, we chose to block the scene after seeking the advice of local counsel."

It also clarified that only the PC version was affected since the game has yet to receive a console release in the region.

Earlier this week, the publisher recalled the title and issued a patch to remove a controversial scene from the single-player campaign.
