EA shuts down Pandemic Studios
Electronic Arts has closed Pandemic Studios.

Over 200 members of staff will lose their jobs, including former owners Josh Resnick and Andrew Goldman.

The news was revealed by an internal memo from senior vice president Nick Earl to other EA studios, according to Kotaku.

"I want to make it clear that the Pandemic brand and franchises will live on," he said. "In the months ahead, we will announce new games based on Pandemic franchises.

"This type of change can be difficult. But the situation calls for us to act decisively, to take control of our destiny and to run a stronger, more focused development operation. That's how we will continue to make great games in our LA studios."

Formed in 1998, the studio created Full Spectrum Warrior, Mercenaries and Star Wars: Battlefront, before being purchased by EA in 2007.

The closure is part of EA's recent measures to save costs, which will see a total of 1,500 jobs dropped and 12 projects scrapped.
