Square Enix has revealed that the next game in the Kane & Lynch franchise will support online co-operative play.
Despite details about Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days being scarce, Kotaku uncovered the new online co-op mode from information on a Square Enix assets disc.
The 2007 original game only supported offline co-op action, but did feature competitive online multiplayer, which will also return for the sequel.
Kane & Lynch 2 will further switch the lead character in its main campaign from Kane to the "self-medicated psychopath" Lynch.
After travelling to Shanghai, Lynch tries to "make a fat deal where the pay is beyond his wildest dreams and nothing is going to get in his way".
According to the asset disc information, Lynch will find the Chinese city a "perfect playground for expat criminals such as [himself]; seduction and corruption highlight the contrasts of the city as players fight through the seedy underbelly of Shanghai - a juxtaposition of old-world and new-world ideals ripe with black market opportunities for Kane and Lynch to exploit and reap rewards from".
Another new feature in the game is the option to shoot or crawl away when close to death on the ground to give a second chance at survival.
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will be released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in Q2 2010.
