Gamasutra says that publishing company Stardock, who owns digital distribution firm Impulse, suggested that Steam is the market leader with Impulse in second place.
Stardock's Brad Wardell said: "Our estimation is that Steam - as the current market leader - enjoys approximately 70% of the overall digital distribution market with Impulse at 10% and all others combined at 20% in terms of actual dollars generated per month."
Wardell also predicted that digital distribution would make up 25% of the revenue for a publisher of a PC title in 2009.
