Gameloft cuts Android operation

The Android operating system has recently made headway in the mobile marketplace, with Sony Ericsson and Motorola using it for their latest models.
However, mobile developer Gameloft has opted to reduce its ongoing investment into creating games specifically for the platform.
Speaking to Reuters, the firm's finance director Alexandre de Rochefort said that the decision was reached due to the relative weakness of Android's applications store in comparison to Apple's offering.
"It is not as neatly done as on the iPhone," he said. "Google has not been very good to entice customers to actually buy products. On Android nobody is making significant revenue."
Rochefort revealed that 13% of the French company's revenue during the last financial quarter derived from sales of iPhone games.
"We are selling 400 times more games on iPhone than on Android," he concluded.
