Atari Games
The game has been reworked by mobile software developer Elite Systems to coincide with its 25th anniversary. It was originally published by Atari, making its arcade debut in 1984.
"It's hoped that the English-language versions of Paperboy will go live on App Stores on Friday 18 December 2009, or soon thereafter, and non-English-language versions soon after that," read a statement from Elite.
According to the firm's website, players will be able to choose between the classic cabinet perspective or a new 3D viewpoint. A trailer for the game is expected to arrive soon.
Paperboy has been ported to multiple platforms since its release, including Xbox Live Arcade in 2007. A price is yet to be announced for the iPhone edition.
