Speaking to Fox News, Fils-Aime pointed out that a console usually peaks in its third year on sale.
"The third year in a generation is typically the strongest and Nintendo is in its fourth with Wii," he said.
"Last year was a record year for the Wii hardware business so it's going to be really tough for us to lap those numbers but we're having a great holiday season so far."
Fils-Aime also spoke of the importance of a new audience of gamers and how Nintendo is constantly innovating its software.
