According to a studio spokesperson, the new game will be a follow-up to AC2 and will arrive before March 2011. It was previously announced that the title will include multiplayer support.
"The game will take place with the same hero, which is Ezio, and will follow-up the story that took place in Assassin's Creed II," he said.
Furthermore, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that the AC2 development team will take the reins on the next instalment. "It is the same studios because it's not only one studio creating the game, but an association of studios and they are working together to make it happen," he said.
The exec went on to say that the game will retail at a "full price point". Further details of Assassin's Creed III are expected to emerge over the coming months.
