The device will run all current iPhone applications and games in standard and upscaled resolutions.
Developers can update their applications specifically for the iPad to make use of the larger screen.
Gameloft showed first-person shooter N.O.V.A., which featured adjusted icons to control movement, firing and weapon changing.
EA presented Need For Speed Shift, which included on-screen pedals and a gear stick, and allowed the user to look behind by touching the rear view mirror.
Also shown was art application Brushes and sports simulation Major League Baseball, as well as the new iBook and iWork applications.
More publishers will be revealed at a later date.
The iPad, which will start at $499 (£308) and launch within 60 days, was revealed at an Apple press conference earlier today.
