According to the publisher, the follow-up will be released during its fiscal year 2012, which begins next April.
"In January, we successfully launched our new owned core game Darksiders. Darksiders achieved a Metacritic rating of 83 and has sold through well in a competitive core game launch window, which is a testament to the quality of the game and a strong marketing campaign," said CFO Paul Pucino during the firm's Q3 earnings call.
The exec added that the title has sold around 1.2 million units to date and is on track to meet the studio's Q4 forecast. According to a presentation slide, the sequel is slated for fiscal 2012.
THQ president Brian Farrell added: "We believe strongly that the NPD data and Chart Track data that come out at the end of the month will show solid sell-through of the title.
"As we said in our prepared remarks, quality game, good marketing campaign, we picked a launch window that turned out to be a little more crowded than we would have liked, but to have succeeded in that environment, we are really pleased to be able to build this franchise."
Darksiders was released for Xbox 360 and PS3 last month.
