Unveiled during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the peripheral will be available in the autumn.
Move will be priced at $100 (£66) in the US and come in a variety of bundles, including a package deal comprising the PlayStation Eye camera and a game. It will be compatible with a number of games, from shooters to family titles.
Upcoming games to feature the technology include Sports Champions, Move Party and Motion Fighters. Existing games such as LittleBigPlanet and Eye Pet will also incorporate the device.
A sub controller similar to the Nintendo Wii's nunchuk will allow for additional control options in games such as shooters. Sony revealed that SOCOM 4 will utilise the controller's motion capabilities for camera control, while the sub controller is responsible for character movement.
Additionally, Sony has promised latency equal to that of its DualShock 3 controller and third party support from almost every major publisher.
