Activision Blizzard's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the second biggest-selling video game ever in the UK.

According to data from sales monitor ELSPA gfk Chart-Track, the first-person shooter has surpassed Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and now only sits behind Nintendo's Dr Kawashima's Brain Training in the all-time list.

In January, Activision confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 has shifted over 14 million copies worldwide and pulled in $1 billion (£665m) in revenue following its release on November 10 last year.

The game will get its first downloadable content on March 30, titled the Stimulus Pack, which unlocks five multiplayer maps at a cost of 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20).

However, gamers have responded angrily to the high price point, especially as the pack includes two maps recycled from the original Modern Warfare.

Writing on Digital Spy's Gaming forum, Bester said: "[The] thing is, though, as long as people keep paying up then there's no incentive for them to do anything differently.

"Ordinarily I'd have jumped at the chance of new maps, but for three new maps, it's galling to do so at 1200 points."
