Sony has confirmed that a patch to fix technical errors in Heavy Rain is currently in the "final stages" of testing and should be available "very soon".

Since the PS3 game's release last month, there have been various reports of glitches, game freezes and corrupt auto-save files.

Writing on the US PlayStation forum, a Sony community development manager said that an update is on the way that will hopefully fix the problems.

"As mentioned previously, this patch is not targeted purely at the issues reported in this thread but does address a range of minor issues which could be contributing factors," he said.

"Given the small percentage of players affected by these issues and the difficulty that has been had in reproducing them here, we're optimistic that this patch resolves your problems but cannot guarantee that this will be the case."

Yesterday, Microsoft creative studios boss Peter Molyneux described Heavy Rain as "the future of video games".
