Titled Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, the game allows players to travel through four different worlds inspired by the history of the Marvel-created superhero.
Today, Activision and developer Beenox have revealed two of the worlds - The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man Noir.
The Amazing Spider-Man will pay tribute to the character's classic era, while also delivering some "innovative web combat" gameplay.
Spider-Man Noir will require players to use the shadows to perform stealthy takedowns in the 1930s-influenced black-and-white world.
Written by Marvel comics scribe Dan Slott, the game's story sees Spider-Man trying to recover a broken magical tablet which has been scattered throughout the four dimensions.
Along the way, players will have to defeat some fan favourite Spider-Man villains, such as the Kraven and a Noir version of Hammerhead.
"Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions delivers an original storyline that bridges four unique worlds," said Activision head of marketing Rob Kostich.
"Each action-packed universe will have its own detailed art design and thrilling missions, challenging gamers to use new skill sets to defeat enemies as they unlock powerful new moves and progress through the game."
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions will be released in September for Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS and Wii.
