According to The Guardian, eight schools in Merseyside are using the images in a project which has been backed by the Home Office.
Images such as protagonist Niko firing a gun from a car window are being used to teach children about the effects of violence in real life.
Gaynor Bell, from the charity Support After Murder and Manslaughter, said that children are seeing so much violence that they're becoming "desensitised" to it.
"They think it's normal life. We're telling them this is not real, this does not go on and it should not go on," she said.
The scheme is to be expanded to Lancashire later this year.
