According to Andriasang, studio boss Hideo Kojima recently posted on Twitter that "a certain scene" had to be cut from the PSP game's Japanese release.
The move is designed to maintain the C rating in Japan so that the game can be sold to 15 year olds. Kojima said that the title will play exactly the same without the scene, but he is frustrated at the studio's inability to maintain free expression.
"There's tolerance for fantasy games, but for games where you show war or real violence between people, you apparently can't complain about anything," he said.
"With this, it seems impossible to communicate something through games."
Kojima also confirmed that the title will be uncut when it is released in the US and UK, where it has already been awarded a T for Teen and 15 rating respectively.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be made available in the UK on June 18 exclusively for PSP.
