Effective from April 23, Griffith will no longer head up Activision Publishing but will continue to work with the company as vice-chairman of Activision-Blizzard for a further 12 months.
His new role will see him "participating in board of directors and chairman of the board meetings and other internal strategy sessions; providing counsel to Activision Blizzard's executive team; and providing services on key initiatives and projects, as requested by the CEO," according to GamesIndustry.Biz.
He will be paid a salary of $250,000 per year, as well as 50,000 company shares subject to the approval of the board of investors.
Griffith joined the company in 2005. His reasons for resigning are unknown.
Earlier this week, employees of Infinity Ward filed a lawsuit toward Activision for unpaid royalties amounting between $75 million and $125 million dollars.
