Liberal Democrats back games tax relief

According to the party's culture, media and sport spokesman Don Foster, the measure needs to be implemented "as soon as possible."
"Liberal Democrats support the introduction of a games tax relief," he said in a statement to TIGA. "Following consultation on the details, we would implement the relief as soon as possible."
TIGA chief executive Dr Richard Wilson welcomed the support, agreeing that action should be taken immediately.
"TIGA welcomes the Liberal Democrats' commitment to support games tax relief and to enact this tax measure as quickly as possible," he said.
"There is a growing cross party consensus that games tax relief is good for the UK development sector, good for the UK games industry, and good for the UK economy."
The report follows measures by British Chancellor Alastair Darling to ensure that the games industry gets tax break benefits similar to those received by filmmakers.
