Last week, rumours suggested that designer Michel Ancel, who was responsible for creating the first game, had left the company and would leave the project unfinished.
However, a Ubisoft spokesperson has since confirmed that Ancel has not departed and the game will continue as planned, telling Eurogamer: "There are no changes on the horizon."
The title was announced with a teaser trailer in 2008 but has not been detailed since.
Ancel also created Rayman and was made a French knight of arts and literature in 2006 alongside Shigeru Miyamoto.
