Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has said that Sony and Microsoft's motion control strategies are "threatening".

Speaking to Edge, the exec voiced concerns that the gaming giant's rivals are imitating the Wiiii control scheme "for the sake of it".

He told the magazine: "Whenever something we have created and presented is followed by copies, we always feel it is threatening.

"More than that, we're concerned that others are trying to do something similar for the sake of it. It's not encouraging to Nintendo."

Sony and Microsoft will showcase their motion technology at E3 later this month. Nintendo is expected to unveil its 3DS handheld system at the event.
