Activision unveils 'Apache: Air Assault'
Published Friday, Jul 16 2010, 09:56 BST | By Andrew Laughlin

The game, which will be Gajin Entertainment's first helicopter combat title, will enable players to control a variety of Apache attack choppers kitted out with "cutting-edge military weaponry".
Players will aim to prevent terrorist attacks in the game by "raining down destruction from above in the world's most volatile warzones".
There will be 16 multi-stage missions available to play involving air and ground strike operations off the coast of Africa, in the mountains of the Middle East and deep in the jungles of Central America.
Activision said that all of the game's high resolution maps have been created by using real world satellite photography.
"No games on next-gen consoles have been dedicated to helicopter combat simulation, but that is about to change this autumn," said Activision's David Oxford.
"Apache: Air Assault offers fun for diehard military enthusiasts and flight-sim fans as well as gamers who just want to blow stuff up."
The game will feature an arcade mode for players to just jump straight into the action, but it will also have a realistic mode offering a more true-to-life flight simulation experience.
Local co-op will be supported in the main campaign, involving two players teaming up in the same Apache with one as the pilot and the other as the co-pilot.
The competitive multiplayer modes will include Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike.
Apache: Air Assault will be available this autumn for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
