Space Invaders caused a sensation after it was released in the arcades in 1978 and spawned numerous sequels over the years.
In February last year, Taito released a high definition version of the classic space shooter on Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch.
Today, an iPad version was made available, which remains "faithful" to the original game, but optimises the graphics to take full advantage of the tablet computer's hardware.
The game also brings a range of bonus material, such as "rarely seen design documents" from the original 1978 game's development.
Space Invaders HD for the iPad is available now from Apple's App Store, priced at £3.26.
