'Dead Rising 2' prequel dated for August

Capcom has dated Dead Rising 2: CASE ZERO.

The downloadable prequel will be available from August 3 for 400 Microsoft Points (£3.40) and will be exclusive to Xbox Live.

Set three years before the events of the game, it will introduce protagonist Chuck Green as he attempts to keep himself and his daughter alive in the zombie-infested town of Still Creek.

As well as featuring unique areas, it will allow character attributes to be carried over into the full game on release.

"With we had two goals: provide newcomers with an easy point of entry to the Dead Rising universe, and give fans of the series an insight into what took place after Frank West survived the outbreak at the Willamette Mall," said executive producer Keiji Inafune.

"We have certainly achieved both of these ambitions but I am equally pleased that we are able to give gamers so much unique and entertaining content at such a great price."

Dead Rising 2 was recently delayed into October.
