Speaking during the firm's Comic-Con panel, producer Yoshinori Ono announced that the game will be released sometime next year.
Originally released for arcades in 1999, Third Strike was developed as a direct sequel to Street Fighter II. Offering a choice of 19 warriors, the online edition is expected to feature revamped graphics and will focus on network combat.
Capcom also unveiled a dual crossover between the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises during the event.
Launch platforms and an official release date for Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition are yet to be confirmed.
