Panasonic has unveiled a portable gaming device called the Jungle.

It is designed specifically to play online games and MMOs using a QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, d-pad and shoulder buttons, according to Gizmondo.

The specifications of the clamshell device have yet to be revealed, but it is said to have a high definition screen and WiFi connectivity, as well as a rumoured HDMI out port and Linux operating system.

"We began this journey by asking gamers what they wanted. Almost unanimously, we heard calls for online gaming products," read a statement on the product's website.

"Some gamers wanted a handheld, some wanted new content. In response, the Jungle was born. Our mission: Create an ecosystem around online gaming.

"At the core is a new mobile device concept designed specifically for online gamers. We’re also working with leading online game developers to create some exciting new content."

Pricing or a release date for the Jungle has yet to be revealed.
