Speaking to Bloomberg, SCEE head Andrew House admitted that the sales figures took the firm by surprise and forced accelerated production of the device.
"The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we'll probably be looking at accelerating production," he said.
House went on to say that he anticipates a "very, very strong" Christmas season for Sony in Europe, predicting that PS3 sales will surpass 15m units during the current fiscal year.
PS Move was released in Europe and the US in September. The device enables motion control by using the PlayStation Eye to track the peripheral's position.
