Frontline Studios has rebranded Duke Nukem: Critical Mass following Gearbox Software's acquisition of the property.

According to the firm's Q4 newsletter, the PSP and DS title has been renamed Extraction Point: Alien Shootout and will feature a protagonist named Cam Nash.

"Duke Nukem Critical Mass on DS and PSP consoles are not going to happen after all (feel free to ask why!)," the developer wrote. "But fear not - we're still releasing the games. It's just now called Extraction Point: Alien Shootout."

Critical Mass was originally in development as part of the Duke Nukem Trilogy - a collection of games featuring the character. It is uncertain whether the other two titles will also be completed.

Extraction Point: Alien Shootout will be available via PSN and the Nintendo DSi Shop in 2011.
