UK tax bid 'should go on four-year hiatus'

The bid for tax breaks in the UK games industry should be rested for several years, it has been suggested.

Culture, Communications And Creative Industries minister Ed Vaizey has said that TIGA should put the campaign on hold and explore "other creative options", according to GameSpot.

It was said that if it were to fully focus on the bid, that would mean putting it on "a hiatus for three or four years [or more] before it realistically comes back onto the table".

Vaizey added that there are several other ways to aid the industry, such as regional growth funds and "direct support" from the Department Of Business, Innovation And Skills.

TIGA succeeded in convincing Labour to introduce a tax credit back in March before it was scrapped by the coalition government in the emergency Budget.
